Tests: Calculating Scores
The results of a test (1) are displayed both in the test itself and in the statistics. The status (Passed or Failed) (2) corresponds to the passing rate for the test.
Each question has a fixed weighting (e.g., 1 point ) (3), i.e., the maximum number of points that can be achieved with a correct answer. The weighting achieved (e.g., 1) is also displayed (4) – this is the proportion of points achieved by the answers given.
In the “Correct/Incorrect” column (5) on the far right, either a check mark (✔) is displayed for a correctly answered question or an X (✘) for an incorrectly answered question.
With the exception of multiple-choice questions, all question types only considered correct only when answered 100% correctly. Partial points are not awarded.
Note: The score achieved is only added to the final total if there is a check mark (✔) next to the question.
Multiple-choice questions
Multiple-choice questions are a special case – their points are calculated as follows:
- Points per correct answer = weighting / # correct answers
- Points achieved = (number of correctly clicked answers × points per answer) – (number of incorrectly clicked answers × points per answer)
- Minimum score = 0 points
Without “Award partial points for individual answer options”
Only 100% correct answers receive points. If one incorrect answer is selected or one correct answer is omitted, 0 points are awarded. Although there may be a score in the achieved weight column, these points will not counted towards the final point total.
Example:
Question weighting: 1 point
Correct answers: A, C
Participant selects: A, C → ✅ 1 point
Participant selects: A or A, B or A, C, D → ❌ 0 points
With “Award partial points for individual answer options”
Partially correct answers receive proportional points, but incorrect answers deduct points. The total weighting must be a multiple of the number of correct answers.
Example:
Question weighting: 2 points
Correct answers: A, C
Points per correct answer: 2 / 2 = 1
Participant selects:
A → 1 point
A, B → 1 (correct) – 1 (incorrect) = 0 points
A, C → 1 + 1 = 2 points
A, C, D → 2 – 1 = 1 point
Only B or D → 0 – 1 = 0 points (minimum)
